Struggling With Your Gel Nail Polish? Here Are 4 Tips To Rock The Gel Nail
Our nails are the crowns of our fingers. Beautifying one’s nails by coloring has been popular among women for decades. Recently, men have hopped in on the trend too. Gel nail polishes are glossy and gorgeous and stay on for a long time. This temptation ultimately forces us to buy professional gel nail polish in varying colors. Once we get them though, the problem starts.
It is too thick, there are bubbles, it never dries, and it is all over the place. Many people who use gel nail polish face this issue. Since the problem is so common, the solution has been hiding right in front of our eyes, we did not know where to look. So here are 4 tips to put on that gel and look good doing it.
The Importance Of Preparation
Preparation is important for everything in life.
It is equally important for the nails too. The shine we have on our nails is
the oils it produces. Any nail polish will have a difficult time sticking to
our nails even as long as such oil is there to disturb it. To remove this, buff
the nail until it is slightly rough and ready to stick to the nail polish. Then
remember to push back and cut any dead cuticles. This will create a more even
and smooth look. Finally, before you apply the nail polish, wipe your nails
with an acetone-coated cotton pad. This will effectively dry out the nail pad.
Layer It Thin
When you pick the nail polish brush out of the
little pot, wipe it on the side to remove any excess. This will leave the brush
with a thin coat that you can apply to your nail. Thicker layers will take time
to dry and may also create an unsightly bump on the nail. Additionally, give it
sufficient time to dry between the coats. Use an ultraviolet lamp or UV LED to
cure it before you go for the next coat.
Don’t Forget The
Open Edge
The open edge of your nail at your fingertips is
an important area. Layer the base coat all the way to the tip and even under
the nail if your nails are long. Then, as you apply each layer or coat of gel
nail polish to your nail, continue to paint it at the edge and even under the
nail. When you shop get nail polish online, do not forget the top coat and base
coat. Once you’re done layering, finish it off with an even layer of top coat,
and cover as much area as possible. Ensuring the edge is not open will protect
the nail polish from peeling or
chipping from the edge.
Aftercare Is Important
At the end of your routine, do not forget to
provide your nails and fingertips with the right care. Apply cuticle oil right
after the manicure and regularly thereon. Equally important is to moisturize
your hands without fail. Leave a week or two without nail polish to allow the
nails to recover and breathe. Massage with a lot of moisturizing oils during
this time.
